Abstract

The role of data obtained as a result of processing materials of remote sensing, which allow to quickly assess the water properties of soils, namely the moisture content in the soil through the calculation of the soil moisture index. While the approach itself has been known in science and practice for the last 20-25 years, its application for the purpose of monitoring agricultural crops has not yet fully revealed its full potential. At the same time, the potential of application of these methods in the practice of agriculture at the level of a specific field can significantly reduce the risks of growing crops. Today, there are developments that demonstrate the possibility of applying such an approach to assess the general state of water supply at the level of administrative units or individual regions of the state, which is of interest to practitioners and provides information support in anticipating and anticipating risks associated with lack of moisture for crops . While the European Union's Copernicus Global Land Service program provides for the rapid acquisition of index data, in particular soil moisture index, these data are unsuitable for practical use on a single farm due to their scale. For the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine with a clear tendency to climate change towards arid and reduction of available moisture for its use in agricultural production, operational data on soil moisture content in important phases of plant growth and development will play an important role. interest. Therefore, relevant information on water properties of soils and the state of moisture supply of plants at the level of the field of a particular farm according to the data obtained by processing remote sensing of the earth's surface, will quickly make the necessary adjustments to technological maps of growing crops and increase environmental sustainability.
