Abstract: the article considers the main directions of information society development, explains the concept of digitization and digitization of education, lists methods, forms of work and means of forming information and digital competence, analyzes methods, forms of work and means of forming information and digital competence, lists which components are included to the digital competence of the teacher, it is indicated which digital content is used by NATC teachers for conducting classes. It is emphasized that digital technologies make the educational process mobile, differentiated and individual, but they do not replace the teacher, but harmoniously complement him. It is determined that the digitalization of education directly depends on the level of digital literacy and the degree of digital technology of teachers who provide the educational process in higher education.
